Buy led headlight bulb guide

There are many types of led headlight bulbs in the market. How can I choose the perfect type which suit my car? Let’s talk about led headlights from following aspects.

1. LED Headlight voltage

1.1 For most led lights, it’s voltage is 9V-16V which fit for most vehicles like cars, motorcycles. But for some vehicles like truck, bus, train, boat, they are 9V-36V. That’s the difference. For 9V-36V, it need to customize especially for certain vehicles. Cause when we customize high voltage, usually the power can not be high. Take truck for example. It’s wide voltage, if power goes to high, the light will usually use about 6 hours or more. It’s not good for led chip and keeping long lifespan.

1.2 The cost of 9V-16V and 9V-36V is different. Usually have USD2-3 difference. Many factory will produce 12v led headlamp to ensure its stable performance and control cost. For 36V, will customize only when client need it.

2. LED Headlight power

2.1 Normal power

   Most led headlight power is from 20w-35w. Cause by size limits, that wattage range is reasonable and we must consider light stability.

2.2 High power

     Above 40w we call high power, like 45w, 50w, 55w, 60w, 65w. The wattage is for one piece bulb. But produce high power, how to solve the cooling problem?

2.2.1 Led headlight aluminum fin cooling

       Many led headlamp adopts aluminum fin base design to dissipate heat.

2.2.2 Fan cooling

       Nearly all high power auto led headlight has fan to make cooling.

2.2.3 Heat pipe

     In market, there are 1 piece heat pipe, 2 pieces heat pipe, 3 pieces heat pipe to conduct led chip heat to bottom fan.

3. LED headlight type

  LED Headlight type has several type. Common is H1, H4, H7, H11, 9005, 9006, 9012. H4 is dual light which has high low beam. Others are single light. So usually H4 price will be higher than other single light. H8, H9, H11 are the same type. 9005 we also call HB3. 9006 call HB4. 9012 call HIR2. For some cars use D series led headlights, like D1S, D2S, D3S, D4, D5, D8. Fewer will use H13, 9004, H15. How to choose correct type?

3.1  Check car instruction to find the correct light type.

3.2  Open headlight to check light type.

3.3  Check on web according to car type and production year.

4. LED Headlight Installation

4.1 For normal cars, choose the correct type, take off original halogen bulbs or hid bulbs, install led headlight directly is ok. We call plug and play installation.

4.2 For some special cars, we need additional plastic socket, or decoder to install.

5. So which type suits me

From above aspects, we know the general information of led headlight. But how to choose cause there are so many type?

5.1  If you want economical type, choose 25w -35w is ok. LED headlights color nearly all 5500K-6000K white color.

5.2 If you want super bright and high power, can choose 2 heat pipe led headlight, or 3 heat pipe led headlight.

5.3 Auto led headlight warranty usually 1 year. Any problem happened in warranty years, can contact buyer for replacement directly.

5.4 If you still don’t know what’s your car type is, can contact supplier to check.
